Letter from Coach Brad Pearce (BYU TENNIS)
Dear Coach,
I wanted to let you know that entries close tomorrow for the Utah Fall Tennis Classic at BYU.
http://tennislink.usta.com/Tournaments/TournamentHome/Tournament.aspx?T=77814
I will accept late entries for collegiate players, provided they have a current USTA # and pay in cash prior to their first match.
Please contact me or my assistant if you are coming with your team and would like to pay in-person prior to their first match.
Please contact me on my cell: 801 362-3108, or my assistant, Zack Warren, (415) 328-7964, if you will not meet the deadline, and players on your team are planning on playing.
Since this is a USTA sanctioned tournament, players without current USTA #’s will not be able to play. The last day that entries will be accepted for collegiate players is Tuesday, September 8th at Noon.
All others must meet the deadline on the website, which is tomorrow, Tuesday, the 1st of September, before midnight.

"Tennis Players in the Weight Room?"
"Tennis Players in the Weight Room?" Wondered the wrestling coach...
That may seem strange, but not for champion tennis players like ours! Awesome participation happened with fourteen of our best athletes diligently conditioning throughout this past week as we planned for USTA Tournament Schedules and organized the first ever Maple Mountain Men's Tennis Club.
Next week excitement for our MMHS Tennis Club is footwork conditioning at MMHS Wt room M,T,TH,Fr (4 days) 6:30 - 7:15 AM. You are welcome to come participate any or all days.
On this page, please subscribe to the blog to ensure you are emailed all announcements for both the Club and the Team and Camps.
Also please take a look at the "Volunteer Staff" article for parents below in this blog and determine which position you would like to fill--"No parent left behind"...thanks
Best wishes

New MMHS Men's Tennis Club President--Jake Guyman
I am pleased to announce MMHS First Ever and newly appointed MMHS Men's Tennis Club President. Jake Guyman has willing accepted the multitude of responsibilites as shown below and I am certain he would love to hear from you on where you can and will volunteer to help!
Email Jake at tryppnnitro@live.com
As President of the Men's Tennis Club I see that your responsibilities might include:
1) Ensure all who want to play tennis this year 9th - 12th grades are invited and feel welcome to join and participate between now and 1 March (Season start)
2) Establish rules of personal integrity (maybe Sat morning we could watch "Forever Strong" in the Team room or at my house)
3) Organize a committee that can: Plan and execute a monthly Tennis Night with professional motivational speaker, (I have several folks we can invite--even possibly Jim Fannin who has coached the top 10 players in the world!) Larry Hall (BYU's former coach--Dave Boyack's friend) etc.
4) Ensure everyone has schedule of USTA tournaments and is aware of all tournament opportunities.
5) Take initiative to ensure that the Tennis Club is the most efficient and fun organization at MMHS!
Whew! Do you think Jake still wants to do it? I have informed Jake that he can pick and choose from the above and delegate any or all tasks to a VP or Committee chair person; by vote or appointment.
The reason I invited Jake to take this on is not only because he is a Senior who will be outstanding on the team this year, but also and most importantly because the boys and I all respect him. Jake Guyman is an outstanding natural leader--he proved that through the MMHS Summer Tennis Camps. He will take this Club to great heights and tons of fun!
Thank you, Jake, for accepting this responsibility,
Please email Jake right away on how you would like to join in and help (both parents and players and spectators welcome!)
With sincere appreciation,
Coach Whiting
